Combat Field Test (CFT) Calculator & Standards 2026

The Combat Field Test is the Army's new pass/fail fitness test for 24 combat specialties: seven events back to back, in uniform and boots, against a single 30-minute clock. Enter your event times below to see your total, how much of the 30:00 you have left and whether you pass, then read the standards, the MOS list and the 2026-2027 timeline from Army Directive 2026-07.

CFT time tracker

Enter your time for each event in order. The tracker adds them up as one continuous clock and compares the total with the 30:00 standard. There are no points: finish all seven events in 30 minutes or less and you pass.

Who takes the CFT: the 24 combat specialties

Codes and titles as printed in Enclosure 2 of Army Directive 2026-07. The directive also added Army Divers (12D) and both EOD specialties (89D, 89E) to the combat specialties, taking the list from 21 to 24; the three additions are marked. The same 24 specialties must meet the 350-point AFT Combat standard.

CFT implementation timeline

  1. Directive signed, diagnostic testing begins

Army Directive 2026-07 makes the CFT a requirement for the 24 combat specialties. Units start giving diagnostic CFTs; a failed attempt carries no administrative action.

  2. Last day of the implementation period

No adverse administrative action results from a failed CFT attempt through this date.

  3. Full implementation: record CFTs

Failing a record CFT leads to a flag and reconditioning, a retest within 90 days (180 days for RC Soldiers not on long orders) and, after two consecutive failures, reclassification or separation action.

  4. CFT result on evaluations

Evaluation reports with a thru date 18 months or more after the directive must show CFT pass/fail or waiver status.

  5. Record CFT required

Soldiers in the 24 specialties who have not taken a record CFT within 12 months of full implementation are flagged, unless a temporary profile prevents it.

The CFT is not the AFT Combat standard

The Army Fitness Test's Combat standard is a scoring threshold: the same five AFT events, scored on a sex-neutral scale, with a 350-point total and 60 points per event required. The Combat Field Test is a different test with different events, no points and a single time limit. Combat-specialty Soldiers in the Regular Army take both every year.

  • Record CFT and record AFT at least 4 months apart (RA, AGR and RC on orders of 365+ days).
  • Other RC Soldiers: one record test per calendar year, alternating AFT and CFT, at least 8 months apart.
  • No requirement to pass the AFT before or after the CFT.
  • No event modifications for Soldiers on profiles; permanent profiles may lead to reclassification.
