AFT Promotion Points Calculator
Enter your Army Fitness Test total and see how many promotion points it earns toward Sergeant or Staff Sergeant, using Table 3-4 of AR 600-8-19 (dated 6 March 2026). The AFT replaced the ACFT as the Army's test of record on June 1, 2025; the same 1-to-120-point chart applies to both ranks and both scoring standards, and only a record test entered in DTMS counts.
Sergeant (E-5): the AFT is worth up to 120 of the 280 military training points.
Use the aggregate score of your last record AFT, as recorded in DTMS. Both the General and Combat standards use the same conversion table.
An AFT total of 400–404 earns 60 points; 5 more AFT points would earn 63.
That is 60 of the 800 administrative points on the SGT promotion point worksheet.

Where the AFT fits on the 800-point worksheet
Promotion to SGT and SSG is semi-centralized: your unit recommends you, and the Army ranks you against monthly cutoff scores using an automated promotion point worksheet worth up to 800 administrative points. The AFT sits in the military training category next to weapons qualification, and it is the only category where SGT and SSG share the same cap.
| Military training | SGT | SSG |
|---|---|---|
| Army Fitness Test (Table 3-4) | 120 | 120 |
| Weapons qualification (Tables 3-2, 3-3) | 160 | 110 |
| Category maximum | 280 | 230 |
The remaining points come from awards and decorations (145 SGT / 165 SSG), military education (240 / 245) and civilian education (135 / 160). Because the AFT chart climbs 3 points for every 5 AFT points, raising your total from 400 to 450 is worth 30 promotion points, the same as a Bronze Star Medal. Use the AFT calculator to see which events give you the cheapest gains and the score chart for the exact thresholds.

- Army HRC and S1NET guidance (May 2025): General-standard AFT scores count toward promotion points from October 1, 2025; a record AFT missing from DTMS earns no AFT points for that cycle. These dates are not stated in the regulation itself.
